Over the past 25 years, Southwest Mortuary has built a solid legacy of service to families in the greater Seattle area. Founded in 1989, our company was formed because several area church leaders and their spouses saw the need for a funeral home dedicated to serving Seattle’s African American community. Since then, we have helped hundreds of families, burying mothers, fathers, grandparents and friends. We understand that every family’s loss is a loss to our whole community, and we are privileged to serve you.
On May 30, 2014, Southwest Mortuary joined forces with Bonney-Watson, another Seattle-area funeral home. We share the same commitment to service and value as Bonney-Watson, who has been family-owned and operated since 1868, making them Seattle’s oldest continually operating business.
Under our new partnership with Bonney-Watson, we will continue to operate as Southwest Mortuary, and we will continue to serve as the most affordable African American-operated full-service funeral home in King County.
Our community is growing, and we are committed to positioning ourselves for the future by growing with you. We will do that by making investments to improve our funeral home, and by having our professionally-trained African American staff provide exceptional value and service. We look forward to continuing to serve this community for decades to come.
